Portraits

Self Portrait I, 2021, pencil on paper
I often create portraits of the people around me. Working mostly with pencil and biro, these drawings are not self-important but observational and quick exercises. Studies that I enjoy making. Often I draw people when they are doing something else, sleeping, reading, watching telly. I am interested in the line; experimenting with building up layers of shading and detail whilst leaving other areas sparse; playing with different approaches to drawing A selection of self portraits are contained here, these are something I will return to intermittently.
