Still Life with Pomegranate, The Bothy, Cirencester, August - December 2017

The first exhibition of  my Still Life paintings, exhibited in 2017 at The Bothy

Piece of writing from 2018

This is a group of works were started in October, after a reprieve from painting I was inspired by Matisse's still lives in london at the RA to set up a painting base in my kitchen. the still life offers unending fascination and as autumn turns to winter i gargled through panel after panel. some were imediately there other needed going back to again and again.  I always have such questions of colour to pose to the world and i simply needed a composition to carry this out of me. i seemed to be filled with interesting propositions and difficult states that just need expression. constructing the compositions in charcoal colour juggling to bring life forwards.

i hope you can enjoy them as much as me
